31st December 2016 Margaret River
Phil and I
took an early morning drive to Surfer’s Point before anyone had surfaced for
breakfast to see the positions of the reefs at low tide. We spotted a peacock
just around the corner but it headed into the forest before Phil had chance to
photograph it.

In the
early morning the beach and cliff top at Surfer's Point are populated by surfers and there were
loads of them. I was interested to see
the channels between the reefs that one has to take when windsurfing out and
back and at low tide this is certainly evident.

After breakfast Sheila and I headed into Margaret River to search out bamboo shirts and also a soft roof rack that I could use on the car to carry a windsurfer when we travel south. The only bamboo shirt I could find was in the Tourist Centre and it had Margaret River wording embroidered on its front. I discarded this option for a couple of hemp shirts, which are equally as soft, light and hard wearing.
In the
afternoon Sheila and I played the first nine holes at Margaret River Golf
Course and as usual on this course one is playing amongst kangaroos at times,
but nevertheless a nice course.

In the
evening we all headed up north to “The Other Side of the Moon” a restaurant
that was providing a special 7 course menu and live band to see in the New
Year. The food was excellent.
